Lorena Villalobos is from the small town of Acuitzio del Canje. Her artworks depict village life from around the Morelia and Lake Pátzcuaro region, including scenes of indigenous life, the island of Janitzio, and the historical centres of Pátzcuaro, Uruapan and Morelia. Her pieces take approximately 2 months to complete. Feather art is a pre-Hispanic medium, dating back to the Nahua history of this small town, whose original name, Coatapec, is a Nahuatl word meaning "Serpent Mountain."
